The use of flocculants is well established in the treatment of various industrial sewage (paper, food, textile etc.), to get the final result of clear fluid/sewage and dry sludge.
The use of flocculants reduces the load on the sewage system and reduces the costs of waste disposal.
An example of final result:
From a trbid liquid to a clear liquid (by settling or flotation
System operation principles:
1. by flotation:

or
2. by settling

Sewage contains micronic particles with (usually) negative electrostatic charge which reject oneanother thereby remaining suspended in the liquid, which thereby remains turbid.
The process is performed by mixing a coagulant under the proper operating conditions (temperature and PH) with the sewage
The coagulant causes the flocking of the micronic suspended particles.
An addition of a flocculant with opposed electrical charge creates flocks that are removable by settling or flotation (with aeration).

The flocculants used by Markit are produced by GRS
